"On Jan. 19, the National Press Club will be the venue for a private, client-paid inaugural ball for supporters of President-elect Donald Trump - as we have for incoming presidents of both parties for decades".

Donald Trump's inauguration weekend kicked off with major protests outside an event hosted by his supporters, many of whom are believed to be a part of the white nationalist "alt-right" movement, Politico reports.

"Deploraball is a coming out party for a new type of Republican", Jeff Giesea told Foxnews.com.

The event had previously been reported to be the object of threats from anti-Trump groups, but the D.C. law enforcement and Federal Bureau of Investigation told Foxnews.com that they did not know of any likely threats surrounding any inauguration events.

"I think we've got to show respect for the process, and the way to do that is to do it when the process gives us the wrong answer", Sherman said of his decision to attend.

Then in December, state police said, they received the tip that Yates and the children, now grown women, were living in Houston. Police say an initial investigation revealed the motive might have been a custody dispute between the girls' parents.

Despite the heavy police presence, the night did not go smoothly for all of the Trump supporters who attended the "Deploraball".

"We're not attacking anyone!", another protester said. The man was surrounded by police and escorted behind police lines.

According to the news station, protestors clogged up F Street NW near 14th Street outside of the National Press Club where an event, dubbed the "DeploraBall" was being held, with many prominent members of Alt-Right in attendance. "Before I knew it my head was gushing blood-there's blood on my Trump hat".

However, within the National Press Club, the "deplorables" at the "Deploraball" continued to celebrate.

"This ball is for the people, and by the people", Giesea said.
