A protest Sunday morning is expected to continue throughout the day at the airport's International Arrivals Terminal.

People have called for more such protests outside airports across the country in the days to come.

Juan Gonzalez attended the demonstration to show Trump that "we're not going to accept the awful things he's doing". Citizens from seven predominantly Muslim countries, including Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen, will be blocked entry into the US for 90 days.

Instead, following new rules implemented by Trump's Friday executive order, the families were placed back on Qatar Airlines and shipped back to Syria where an uncertain fate awaits them.

Other protests were scheduled for Orlando, Tallahassee, Tampa and West Palm Beach.

Palo Alto attorney Buzz Frahn is among several attorneys who have volunteered their services to anyone who is stopped at the airport.

The Rally to Support Central Florida Muslims, hosted by a group called "Support Central Florida Muslim Community", says it plans to rally at the airport Sunday from noon to 2 p.m.

In Pittsburgh, protesters also filled the baggage claim area of Pittsburgh International Airport in a show of solidarity.

Late Saturday, a federal judge in NY put a temporary stay on Trump's order, barring the US from deporting travelers targeted by the ban, the Associated Press reported.

The American Civil Liberties Union announced today that it was taking legal action on behalf of two individuals detained in NY under the order.

Outrage in the Bay Area reached a fevered pitch Saturday.

In a related development, lawyers for the detainees said in a hastily arranged news conference on Sunday that a full-blown hearing on the legal challenge to Trump's order will not happen until late February. "Unadulterated, unapologetic xenophobia, completely unnecessary, Unconstitutional, and Unamerican".

While travelers were detained at other airports across the country, it was quiet at Jacksonville International Airport. The airport estimates more than 500 people attended. Parisa Fasihianifard, 24, arrived after a long trip from Tehran, Iran, to visit her husband, only to be detained and told she had to go home. This is racist. This is wrong. Organizers extended the peaceful protest.
