National Basketball Association reportedly will review Russell Westbrook-Zaza Pachulia confrontation

20 January, 2017, 00:52 | Author: Evan Mason

The game wasn't exactly the friendliest - with Zaza Pachulia knocking Westbrook to the ground at one point and standing over him in a menacing way.

During the game, Westbrook got absolutely floored by Pachulia and hit the deck.

Pachulia seems to have some beef against Westbrook, because earlier in the game the Warriors big man shoved Westbrook aside. "I'm going to get his [expletive] back - straight up".

But he probably couldn't have helped Westbrook overcome his most embarrassing moment in the showdown with former team-mate Kevin Durant, who switched to Golden State during the off-season.

Westbrook finished the game with 27 points, 15 rebounds and 13 assists for his 21st triple-double of the season.

But the Durant-Thunder undercurrent will run through any game the teams play, this season and probably beyond. "I just happened to knock them down".

The Oklahoma City Thunder play the Golden State Warriors in one of the National Basketball Association games on Wednesday, start time at 10:30 PM ET, at Oracle Arena, Oakland, California. "But once the ball tips, you're just playing".

It's taken every ounce of that single-minded will from Westbrook to keep Oklahoma City as competitive as its been this season in the wake of Durant's departure. Oklahoma City is in the midst of a six-game road trip and fell hard on the second night of a back-to-back with a 120-98 setback at the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday. I've been on that side, too. That team is not there, so they might be thinking about other stuff, like getting back.

It's an interesting case study in the personalities of the two players.

The next time these two meet will be on Feb.11 when the Thunder host the Warriors at the Chesapeake Arena in Oklahoma City.

Said Thunder shooting guard Victor Oladipo: "He had no reason to do that". I try to focus on me, on how I'm going to approach the game and focus on how we're going to do it as a team.
