  • Instagram Posts Expand to Include Multiple Photos

Starting Wednesday, all users have the option to add up to 10 photos (or videos or Boomerangs or Hyperlapses) to a post, creating a carousel of images to swipe through.

You can spot or locate the new feature which appears as a button for selecting multiple photos when you go to your post feed.

An album post will be marked with a new icon that looks like a stack of photos when it shows up on your profile page. You can also tap and hold on the photos and videos to change their order within your sequence. The multimedia will exist in a single carousel post that users can swipe through horizontally.

Once posted, your friends will know there are multiple photos / videos by the blue dots at the bottom.

Instagram Posts Expand to Include Multiple Photos

First in foremost, users must update to the latest version of Instagram to get the feature.

The new feature is rolling out on iOS as well as Android. Once you have the photos picked out, make sure they're properly filtered, then post away.

That was one of the key reasons Instagram launched Stories, the photo and video montages that disappear after 24 hours. Up to ten photos or videos (in any combination) can be shared at one time, with your followers able to swipe through the images. This also solves the common Instagram problem of users uploading many separate posts, and clogging up your Instagram feed.

Instagram said that these types of posts are still designated to a single caption and only support the square-style size "for now". The result is nearly identical to the photos or videos you're used to seeing in your Instagram feed, except for a row of tiny dots at the bottom center of the image or clip. Which made it all the more inexplicable that Instagram restricted photo carousels to its advertisers.
