National Football League warns Seahawks for not listing Richard Sherman on injury report

The Seattle Seahawks are getting away with just a warning for not listing Richard Sherman's knee injury on the injury report a year ago, according to a report from ESPN.

Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio poked holes in that line of reasoning, though: "Here's the first problem with that excuse for not issuing punishment: Sherman at times did miss practice, with the designation that the absence wasn't injury related".

The controversy didn't begin until after the season, when Pete Carroll revealed that his star cornerback played a substantial chunk of the season with an MCL injury. In Week 12, Sherman was listed with an ankle injury. The league presumably wanted to let the rest of the league know what might happen in the future if anyone messes around with injury report designations.

Warren sanctioned for impugning Sessions during attorney general debate in Senate

"If any player has a significant or noteworthy injury, it must be listed on the practice report, even if he fully participates in practice and the team expects that he will play in the team's next game", the National Football League rulebook states, according to ESPN. "He never missed anything, I guess, is probably why".

"I'm feeling like I screwed that up with not telling you that", Carroll said in a January news conference. "I don't even remember what game it was, it was somewhere in the middle ..." Same with Russell [Wilson], he was fine about it.

It's just odd that a team with so many violations over the last few seasons gets off with just a warning, especially after there was the report they could lose a second-round pick.
