Wednesday Isolated showers after 1 p.m. Winds will strengthen through the day and could gust to 40mph, especially near the south coasts of Rhode Island and MA. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible. Inland areas will remain cold, causing a light icy glaze on top of the snow. High near 38. Light northeast wind becoming east 9 to 14 miles per hour in the morning.

A freezing rain alert was already in place Tuesday morning with Environment Canada predicting an "extended" period of freezing rain after a few centimetres of snow and ice pellets fall.
