  • Baltimore Restaurant Closes For 'Day Without Immigrants' Protest

Primarily Hispanic-owned businesses have posted Facebook messages saying they will close, while operators of other restaurants and hotels are talking to their staffs to gauge how many will participate.

The protests are to show critical immigrants are to the US economy and way of life. (Clarke Jr. recently made commentsabout helping federal agents crackdown on immigrants.) "No matter what status you have, we're here to work hard", Mayra Estrada, a 33-year-old protester, told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "We stand 100% behind our employees - whether they are immigrants or born in America, back of house or front of house", reads the group's statement. Eloi Reyes, who immigrated from Mexico, took the day off from his job in lighting to join in the action even though he knows it may threaten his job. Carr explained that he supports the decision of his employees and understands why it is important for them to take part in this day.

Organizers are encouraging immigrants to miss class and work and not to shop.

Days later, Trump signed a sweeping order that temporarily banned people from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States, suspended all refugee admissions for 120 days and indefinitely barred Syrians from the country, though an appeals court order temporarily blocked the order. Though a United States appeals-court ruling earlier this month prevented the ban from being enforced as its legality is decided, The Washington Post reported that Trump was considering rewriting the plan to regain some type of immigration ban.

Ballistic fleet missiles, also known as submarine-launched ballistic missiles, are created to carry nuclear warheads. Elizabeth Lopez also saw the light around 6:20 a.m. from Canyon Country off Sierra Highway and Golden Valley Road.

Jeff Black, a prominent D.C. chef-restaurateur who plans to close his restaurants if necessary, also wants the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington to commit to a day of solidarity with immigrant workers, probably on a Monday when business is a bit slower.

Several Wichita Mexican restaurants are participating in the nationwide "Day Without Immigrants" walk-out by closing their doors for the day.

Nearly two dozen restaurants in Washington, D.C., are expected to be closed and the boycott will also spread to other cities in the country.

"I think it's great, especially that it's happening here in DC where it directly affects the Trump people", said Amara Shaker-Brown, 27, who works in a tech company. Others are backing the protest by closing for lunch.
