  • Saudi Arabia Wants Trump to Drop 9/11 Terror Victims Law

"The September 11th Attacks and the resulting injuries and deaths were caused by a tortious act or acts of Saudi Arabia, by providing material support and resources to and facilitating the al-Qaida leaders, planners and hijackers responsible", it continues.

Lawmakers overrode a veto from then-President Barack Obama, who argued that the law would expose United States. companies, troops and officials to lawsuits in other countries and could anger allies.

The Obama administration and the Bush administration before it resisted all attempts to hold Saudi Arabia accountable for its alleged links to the 9/11 attacks, arguing that doing so would set a unsafe precedent which would expose American citizens to similar claims in foreign courts.

The lawsuit is being amended to include local residents and office workers who have been exposed to carcinogens in the aftermath of the attack.

Almost 800 families of the victims of 9/11 have sued the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia several times in federal court for its alleged support of the al-Qaida terrorist network, NBC News reports.

Saudi Arabia's adoption of the Wahabbism and Islamic extremism that led the oil-rich country and US ally to join forces with Al Qaeda "to pursue and carry out terrorist attacks against the United States, and used Wahhabism to justify its campaign of anti-American violence".

Will work for development without discrimination: Adityanath
Meanwhile, who would become the next chief minister of Uttar Pradesh is still not confirmed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah would be attending the ceremony.

The bill, called the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act, was vetoed by then-President Obama last September.

Most of the lawsuits that have been filed under the law have been on behalf of those affected by the attacks.

The 9/11 attacks couldn't have happened without Saudi Arabian assistance, the lawsuit continues.

Mr Trump is reportedly popular with the kingdom and last week met with Saudi Arabia's deputy crown prince Mohammed bin Salman, though the president has been a vocal supporter of the victim's law in the past.

The family members of over 800 victims are seeking unspecified damages after the US Congress passed a law in September 2016, allowing victims of the terror attacks on US soil to sue state sponsors. A lawyer for Saudi Arabia did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Tuesday. The kingdom denies all allegations and any involvement in the 9/11 attacks.

Those pages indicate that several actors within the Saudi government had connections to the hijackers.
