Instagram hits 1 million monthly active advertisers, planning booking feature for businesses

Users will be able to book appointments for things like haircuts by visiting a company's profile and tapping a button to schedule such appointments.

The booking feature is expected to rollout in the next few months, though no hard and fast deadline has been provided.

Facebook already enables conversations between customers and businesses via its Messenger app and web service.

Users will have the ability to not just book a visit, but there will be options to call or email the business and a tab for directions. With brands seeing more potential in the creative service, the Facebook-owned company said it's planning on doing more to help businesses convert sales.

More than 8M businesses are using its business profiles, Instagram says, mainly in the U.S., Brazil, Indonesia, Russia and the UK.

And although these businesses may have thousands of followers, it doesn't mean they are raking in the revenue. The photo-sharing platform says that the a year ago has brought more changes than any other, with Instagram Stories, new branding, video growth and reaching 600 million users.
