  • Republican Congressman From NJ: GOP Health Care Bill 'Not as Good' as Obamacare

A voucher system would dramatically increase health care costs and risks for current and future retirees.

If the Republican-backed Affordable Health Care Act (AHCA) is passed, millions of Americans now enrolled in Obamacare would lose their insurance and see fewer benefits and higher costs, especially if you are poor and working class. But many Republicans, including now-President Trump, campaigned on repealing Obamacare.

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) explains the Republican plan to replace the Affordable Care Act during his weekly press conference at the U.S. Capitol March 9, 2017.

Supporters of the GOP plan say it would give the states more flexibility to design programs that better serve their own lower-income populations.

I know personally how these ill-conceived, callous, short-sighted, ideological disasters will impact the American people. But whatever the eventual fate of the Obamacare replacement bill, it's unlikely to find much favor among the US public, according to a new national survey.

He added, "I am committed to working with both Republicans and Democrats to shape our health care system so that it works for all Americans, and I will continue fighting toward this end".

Trump has been vocal about his desire to deal with the costs of prescription drugs.

Hundreds of demonstrators held a "die-in" outside the Vista office of Rep. Darrell Issa Tuesday morning to protest Republican efforts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.

He also said that while health prices are rising - contrary to his goal of bending the cost curve - they're going up at a slower rate than previous decades. "I have two kids with special needs", said Montanari.

Troy Congressman Warren Davidson has said he will not vote for the Affordable Care Act replacement.

More seniors forced into poverty, losing everything they worked for their entire lives.

The Congressional Budget Office finds that a 64-year-old making $26,000 per year would pay about $13,000 more per year for health insurance.

Joe White, the Luxenberg Family Professor of Public Policy at Case Western, told Cleveland 19 that if those thousands of people who become uninsured still go to hospitals for health care without insurance it could be bad for hospitals. We should always be able to go back to the drawing board.
