  • Netflix Held for Ransom: Hacker Threatens to Release 'Orange' Episodes (Report)

In a ransom note, a person under the name The Dark Lord said he has uploaded the first episode of "Orange Is The New Black" Season 5 to an illegal file-sharing service already, and that he will release the rest unless "modest" ransoms are not paid, Deadline reported. However, neither The Associated Press nor The Hollywood Reporter were able to confirm this claim.

Before episodes 2-10 were leaked, hackers told the news outlet Torrent Freak that they stole the episodes at the end of 2016 from from Larson Studios, which provides ADR (additional dialogue recorded) services.

When contacted by the AP, Netflix representatives stated that the leak originated with a small production vendor, which works with major TV studios.

The Californian company said the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other authorities were investigating.

Yes, we're all a little resentful that Netflix has such sway over our minds and our time (who else has planned a weekend around the release of one of their shows?), but this seems like a really unusual move by The Dark Overlord.
