Panneerselvam's 'no' to Sasikala family for AIADMK unity

Dinakaran refused to step down as party deputy general secretary arguing that he had to first consult his aunt Sasikala, party general secretary, who is serving a sentence in a Bengaluru jail.
Tamil Nadu's ruling AIADMK has decided that its jailed chief VK Sasikala and her nephew TTV Dinakaran will be "kept away from the government and the party" to enable a merger with the rival faction led by former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam or OPS. "But I don't know", he told reporters.
Reports suggest that the AIADMK ministers met and made a decision to oust Sasikala and Dinakaran from AIADMK with a view to accepting a major condition of former CM O. Panneer Selvam for real unity of the party founded by MGR and developed very carefully by Jayalalithaa.
Speaking in Perikulam in Theni district, about 520 km from here, Panneerselvam told the media: "Our stand is that Sasikala and her family members should not be in the party".
Earlier, an alleged middleman, Sukesh Chandrashekhar had been arrested in this matter.
Demanding the ouster of Sasikala and her nephew from the AIADMK, former Tamil Nadu chief minister O. Panneerselvam said the party should not be controlled by one family.
Beleaguered AIADMK (Amma) faction leader TTV Dinakaran today struck a conciliatory note, saying he had no problem with the merger of rival party factions and felt the rebellion against him was due to some "fear".
