With temperatures expected to hit 90 degrees, the march is set to begin at 12:30 p.m. near the Capitol.

Hundreds of sister events are scheduled across the country, including one in New Milford.

Kimmell says the one key group missing from the coalition wanting action on climate is elected Republicans in Washington. It coincided with Earth Day and while people showed up for all kinds of science from medicine to space exploration, climate change seemed to be an overarching cause. Notable speakers like Al Gore, Richard Branson and Leonardo DiCaprio are expected to speak at the march held in the nation's capital. She joined about 200 others who climbed into four buses traveling to Washington early Saturday to join in the march. To change everything, we need everyone.
