Police said they found her remains in a rural area in Pima County about a month ago and that an out-of-state lab identified them.

Isabel was last seen by her father who reported her missing when he woke up to find she was not in her bedroom.

He did not elaborate and say how long the six-year-old girl's body may have been in the desert or what had led to her death.

Cops have never named any suspects in the girl's disappearance, but did acknowledge early on in the investigation that they had found "suspicious circumstances around a possible entry point" at her home. As we move forward in our investigation, we will release additional details as they become available.

Human remains discovered in a remote area of Arizona have been identified as those of a six-year-old who disappeared nearly five years ago.

At a press conference Chief Chris Magnus said police had found human remains in a "remote" area which match Isabel's DNA. The police department will continue to actively pursue "those responsible for any kind of involvement in Isabel's disappearance", he said.

Police have also not revealed any suspects in the case yet, but said the Celis' remains weren't found by "happenstance".

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has released an age progression of Isabel Celis.

The proposed assistance does not include putting U.S. military forces on the ground in this operation, the official said. Human rights monitors say the coalition air raids are to blame for the majority of civilian deaths.

Celis was last seen on April 20, 2012, and was reported missing by her father when he realized she was missing from her room the next morning.

Becky said in an interview several years ago they all were coping because of the support from their family, faith in God and the love they each have for one another. We ask for privacy during this time so that we can do that'.

'Now is our time to mourn.

Medical centre CEO Judy Rich said in a statement: "This is not the news we had hoped to hear".

"This is not the ending that any of us hoped for but it is also not the ending of the case", he said.

Magnus said the department received a tip, which lead to the discovery of the remains.

"Becky has been a member of the TMC family for many years, and our hearts grieve for Isa and her family".

"In fact, reverberations of this have gone well beyond Tucson and even Arizona, (and) have affected people throughout the country".
