Holly Jones, a BBC reporter was on London Bridge when she saw a van swerve off the road into a crowd of pedestrians just after 10pm on Saturday night.

On London Bridge, witnesses described seeing a white van mounting the sidewalk and injuring at least six people at about 10:30 p.m.

The BBC's Ms Jones spoke to a Frenchwoman who had been injured in the incident.

Also Saturday, a man with a "massive knife" entered a restaurant at Borough Market, just south of the bridge, and stabbed two people inside, a witness told CNN.

We understand from Holly Jones that four pedestrians appear to be severely injured on London Bridge and that the van was going about 50 miles an hour, which is very unusual.

A taxi driver called Chris told LBC said he saw men armed with foot-long knives after a van drove on to the pavement.

The police, on the other hand, are a little more tight-lipped.

U.K. Metropolitan Police said they are on the scene but have not yet released details.

Armed police opened fire during at least two "terrorist incidents" at London Bridge and Borough Market, in the heart of the capital's business district.

One woman told Reuters she saw what appeared to be three people with knife wounds and possibly their throats cut at London Bridge at the Thames river.

"There were five or six people that we tried to help, they were young people".

London Bridge and Borough stations closed due to ongoing incident.

MARTIN: And, Frank, we only have a little bit less than a minute left, but this is all coming just a month after three people were killed near Parliament there in London when a vehicle ran over victims.

NPR's Frank Langfitt says that the bridge is closed in both directions and that officials are asking people to stay away from the area.

Soon after, reports started coming in of stabbings at Borough Market, a nearby area full of bars and restaurants surrounding a popular food market. "I immediately thought this was the Westminster attack all over again".
