  • Texas mom arrested after 2 children die in hot car during ‘lesson

Cynthia Randolph was jailed Friday on two counts of causing serious bodily harm to a child.

A North Texas woman has been arrested in connection with the deaths of her two children from extreme heat exposure after they were found locked inside a vehicle last month, the Parker County Sheriff's Office says. Randolph implicated herself again when she told investigators she later broke the auto window to make it look like an accident.

Randolph initially told police that the kids must have entered the vehicle on their own and locked themselves in. Even though, my mom could be completely nuts, she would never try to teach my brother and I a lesson by leaving us defenseless in a hot locked auto.

Online jail records don't list an attorney for her. According to NBC Dallas-Fort Worth, temperatures reached 96 degrees that day.

Cynthia Randolph was arrested in connection with the deaths of her two children from extreme heat exposure after they were found locked inside a vehicle on May 26, 2017.

But Randolph later admitted to authorities that she left the kids in the vehicle. Officials said one of the kids refused to get out of the auto, so she shut the door to teach her daughter "a lesson", thinking they could get themselves out of the vehicle. She says she thought they'd be able to get themselves out, so she went back to inside to smoke weed and fell asleep for hours.

Trump not planning to invoke executive privilege to block James Comey testimony
Executive privilege can not be used to "cover up government misconduct", said Andrew Wright, a professor at Savannah Law School. Executive privilege is a legal doctrine that allows the president to withhold information from other government branches.

Randolph stated she was inside her residence folding laundry and watching television, as the children played in an enclosed back porch, visible from the living room.

Both kids were pronounced dead at about 4:30 p.m., according to FOX4. Of those, three have been in North Texas, including the two Friday in Parker County.

When she woke, she went to check on the children and found them unresponsive.

In documents released Friday, the Parker County Sheriff's Department used Randolph's shifting statements about how her children died as probable cause to charge her.

Fowler said that any incidents involving any child are hard ones, but this call was especially heartbreaking because of the unfortunate deaths of the two children.
