  • 039;Mass Effect Andromeda' DLC Cancellation Rumors Answered By Bioware Producer 'Never Heard Of' Source

Yesterday, a widely shared Facebook post claimed that BioWare had cancelled Mass Effect: Andromeda's downloadable content. This leaves a "skeleton crew" that is working on basic patches and multiplayer DLC with no one left over for any type of single-player content, according to sources.

Players were expecting a story DLC for Mass Effect: Andromeda, especially after Mass Effect 2's Lair of the Shadow Broker and Mass Effect 3's Citadel received rave reviews for the stories and character development that they added to their respective base games.

The'Andromeda marketing team gave it their all but they couldn't overcome the negativity generated by the launch on social media

Developer BioWare has been forced to dismiss rumours of a cancellation of Mass Effect: Andromeda's DLC.

There were rumors back in May that the series had been put on indefinite hold and Bioware employees transferred to new projects. This is disappointing but not exactly surprising, considering the downsizing of BioWare Montreal. This should have been a clear indication of the fact that Andromeda will no longer receive new expansions or mission packs in the future, but as always people refused to believe even the most serious and official of statements. Of course, Bioware could still change its mind or make new plans. For those hearing about this for the first time, the rumors began when a studio from Austria called Sinclair Networks posted onto Facebook (which has since been deleted, but not before it was captured by Critical Hit) claiming that their contract with BioWare to produce three DLCs for Andromeda had been cancelled. However, producer Fernando Melo on Twitter said that, "While we can't talk about future yet, I can def say we build our own DLC/patches for our games and don't hire fake companies to do so".
