Who is Bill Browder?

  • Jared Kushner says he has 'nothing to hide' on Russia

"The goal of the Putin regime has been to commit bad crimes in order to get that money, and he doesn't want to lose that money by having it frozen".

Repeal of the Magnitsky Act is Vladimir Putin's "single most important foreign policy priority", William Browder told Congress on Thursday. Browder was once the largest investor in Russia's stock market and a supporter of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

For his efforts in uncovering this corruption, Magnitsky was arrested by the same Interior Ministry officials he was accusing of stealing the tax money and thrown in prison where, according to the official finding of the Russian government, he died of a heart attack.

Browder called the June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower with Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort, Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya, lobbyist Rinat Akhmetshin, and publicist Rob Goldstone a mission that Russian intelligence knew about in advance "with 100 percent certainty. there would have been weeks spent studying how to best achieve the results in that meeting". The 2016 meeting happened after the president's eldest son was offered potentially damaging information about Hillary Clinton.

Browder alleged in the complaint that Rohrabacher provided "services" to Russia's deputy general prosecutor, Victor Grin, by attempting to stymie an expansion of the Magnitsky Act being deliberated in Congress last summer.

In June 2012, Congress passed the Magnitsky Act to punish those who were in some way were responsible for Magnitsky's death and laundering the stolen tax money by preventing them from coming to the United States or using our banking system.

"Nobody was talking about adoption", Browder said. And I would not understate the value of the Magnitsky Act in terms of the consequences, because not only does it freeze the assets that are held in America, but the moment that you get onto the Magnitsky list, you get put on the OFAC sanctions list (Office of Foreign Assets Control), which is a (U.S.) Treasury sanctions list. Enacted in 1938, FARA requires agents representing the interests of foreign powers in a "political or quasi-political capacity" to disclose their relationship with that foreign government and information about related activities and finances.

Fox News' Catherine Herridge reported on the details of Russia's ties to Fusion GPS this morning, which caught the President's attention. Graham reiterated the Russians hacked into Democratic National Committee emails and that Veselnitskaya was "actually working for the Russians".

That changed, he said, when he was expelled from Russian Federation in 2005 after being considered a threat to national security.

The witnesses are three officials from the Justice Department and the FBI, including one - Assistant FBI Director Bill Priestap, who has already appeared in at least one hearing in the Russian Federation imbroglio. The Senate Judiciary Committee nevertheless pursued to investigate the claims.

"Two days before this trial was set to begin, the department agreed to settle this $230 million case for less than $6 million and no admission of wrongdoing", the letter said. As the ranking members of the committee, they can subpoena if they come to an agreement.

US intelligence agencies have concluded that Russian Federation meddled in last year's USA presidential election with the intent of helping Trump win, resulting in several congressional investigations and a Justice Department probe led by special counsel Robert Mueller. "It's a great pity that Russian-U.S relations are being sacrificed to resolve questions of domestic politics".
