Shivakumar's house was raided for three days, and he was questioned continuously.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday attacked the Congress party referring the recent Income Tax raids at Karnataka Minister's house as a "witch-hunt".

According to reports, a team of 10 tax officials, along with personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force, raided the resort at around 7am this morning. He said that the raids were "politically motivated" and the Congress will not "bow down to such intimidation".

Congress had brought its 44 legislators at the resort on Saturday, to fend off "poaching" attempts by the BJP ahead of the August 8 Rajya Sabha polls in Gujarat.

Jaitley, while addressing the Lok Sabha, said that the raids are being conducted purely on economic front. Jaitley's response came after Congress's Mallikarjun Kharge warned the government against using ED and I-T to crush the Opposition.

On the political front, the day saw Chief Minister Siddaramaiah directly implicating BJP national president Amit Shah of masterminding the operations, which he said, were timed to the Gujarat Congress MLAs being stationed in Karnataka.

The Income Tax team first swooped on several properties belonging to the minister on Wednesday, including his homes in Kanakapura and Sadashivanagar and his Eagleton Golf Resort, where the Congress MLAs from Gujarat have been put up.

The MLAs in the resort have said that they "will save democracy" no matter what happened.

Mr Tewari said, Congress party will continue to protest this inside Parliament.

During the searches at about 66 places across the country in connection with a case of alleged tax evasion, IT officials said they have seized cash and jewellery worth over Rs 15 crore so far.
