San Francisco dog owners to counter right-wing rally by creating poo minefield

Mere days before a planned right-wing rally comes to San Francisco, a city supervisor is calling for stricter gun laws.

Tuffy Tuffington was wrestling last week with how to civilly protest the upcoming conservative "Patriot Prayer" rally in San Francisco when his two dogs began "doing their business" in Golden Gate Park.

Dog walkers are being invited to let their pet's shit freely on a beach where a right wing rally is due to take place this weekend.

Tuffington said he plans to clean up the droppings - as well as any water bottles or trash left behind - after the protesters go home, in time for runners in a half-marathon to race through the park Sunday morning.

Now they are back for a weekend of provocations on Saturday, August 26 in San Francisco and Sunday, August 27 in Berkeley.

The mayor urged locals to instead attend city-hosted events on Friday and Saturday that he said would focus on "inclusion, compassion and love rather than hate". Their events in Portland and Seattle attracted neo-Nazis, white supremacists, militia groups, and "Alt-Right" trolls.

Joey Gibson is the man behind Patriot Prayer (which he says is an "ideology" more than a group). They're also blocking cars, bikes and parking near Crissy Field, where the Freedom Rally is scheduled. Nevertheless, San Francisco and Berkeley officials are anxious that the two events could attract extremists and spark violent confrontations. Dianne Feinstein and San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee objected, saying the rally could lead to deadly violence like that in Charlottesville, Virginia.

City and park officials released a list of items that attendees will not be allowed to bring in during Saturday's rally and that attendees will get screened at security checkpoints. "We will not allow the extremists to tear apart this country". Locals are planning to leave their dog poop all over the field, just like it was Paris.

The far-right protesters are also likely to encounter a contingent of marching clowns, who say "fascism is no laughing matter", as well as a collection of kayakers, boaters, sailors, and surfers who plan to paddle out to the bay that borders the field during the Patriot Prayer rally.

Although the city denied a permit to the group, officials are anticipating thousands to descend on Berkeley this weekend.

Muldoon said that after consulting with law enforcement, parks officials determined that protesters would come to Crissy Field on Saturday whether a permit was issued or not - and that issuing a permit would help maintain order.

The event is in protest of Marxism and the teaching of it at schools like UC Berkeley, according to organizer, Amber Gwen Cummings.

This year, politically-charged events have spiraled into violence in the famously liberal college town, including a "Patriot Day" rally in April and protests that erupted at UC Berkeley before a speech by Milo Yiannopoulos in February. You want a brawl, violent provocation.
