Taylor Swift announces new album 'Reputation' out November 10

  • Taylor Swift to release new music on Friday

Swift relentlessly teased the new song and album with videos of an angry snake on her social media accounts.

Swift made headlines with "1989" by shunning Spotify, accusing the streaming giant of short-changing artists, although she ended her boycott in July.

However, Swift - who has been posting teasers on social media for the last couple of days - is being "very secretive" about the whole thing.

Proving that you can't keep a good snake down, Taylor Swift has returned to announce her sixth studio album, Reputation. It's unlikely that she would wear a piece designed by Kanye West, considering the two had a falling out a year ago after Kim Kardashian posted recordings of a conversation between her husband and Swift over the "I made that bitch famous" lyrics in the song "Famous".

The first single, she said in a series of posts, will drop on Thursday night in the United States, or during the daytime on Friday in Australia.

"Taylor has been writing and recording her new album in Nashville for the last several months", a source told E!

The use of a snake calls back to Swift's previous feuds with her ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris and with Kanye West and his wife Kim Kardashian.

With her wavy locks scraped away from her face and rocking a bold, dark lipstick, Taylor looks worlds away from the pristine pop princess fans are familiar with seeing. "It goes from very soft, to hard, to soft again" and "it doesn't sound like anything she's done before".

But it's entirely possible she did not intend to announce the record just yet.

A short time later, fans convinced themselves that the numbers were a confirmation of the upcoming release of her new single, which will reportedly take place on August 25 - aka "8" "25".

Reputation is the follow-up to 2014's wildly successful 1989.

Taylor Swift's New Album Cover for 'Reputation' Is...Headline-Making
Swift has kept a low profile in the recent months and sources have confirmed she's been busy working on tracks for the new album. In the aftermath of the announcement, fans and commenters haven't ceased speculating about what the new album might bring.
