A cloud cover is in the forecast for most of the region on Monday, Aug. 21, when there will be a solar eclipse.

Monday night, there is an 80 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 7 p.m., according to the weather service.

Across northeast Georgia and into metro Atlanta, we'll begin to see the partial eclipse around 1:05 p.m. with a mostly sunny to partly cloudy sky. But it may not all be doom and gloom for those with their glasses at the ready, hoping to catch the first total solar eclipse in the U.S.in almost 40 years.

Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low around 72 and winds continuing out of the southwest at 8 to 11 miles per hour.

Chances of rain increase the farther north you go in the Volusia-Flagler area today, with a 20 percent chance of morning showers in northwest Volusia County before noon, forecasters say. Some lingering debris clouds from overnight storms in northern in should continue to dissipate as we head through the morning.

Scattered to isolated showers remain in the forecast for Friday and Saturday.
