At least some customers who contact the satellite TV service and cite the players kneeling during pregame performances of the national anthem as a reason for canceling their $280 package are being offered refunds, customer service representatives tell The Wall Street Journal. Although, a spokesman for AT&T - which owns DirecTV - would neither confirm or deny, per Rovell.

DirectTV is the host network for NFL Sunday Ticket, a service that allows customers to view each NFL game live. One said refunds to those concerned about the anthem protests were only offered to subscribers with certain offers or plans.

DirecTV is reportedly offering refunds to customers who want to cancel their subscription to NFL Sunday Ticket over players' national anthem protests.

"I honestly didn't think I'd get a refund", Hoffman said. According to their support site, no cancellations are allowed once the regular football season starts.

Once you subscribe to DirecTV's NFL Sunday Ticket package, usually you're locked in.

Canada began down a better path to peace in 1984, and it is high time we moved forward and called for our allies to do likewise. The treaty, which would ban the developing, stocking and threat of use of nuclear weapons, will apply only to signatory States.

AT&T, DirecTV's parent company, did not respond to messages left by USA TODAY Sports on Tuesday. The Wall Street Journal reported the refunds earlier Tuesday.

The protests, which former 49er quarterback Colin Kaepernick started last season as a way to raise awareness about police brutality, have remained a polarizing issue.

On Sept. 25, the Dallas Cowboys, joined by team owner Jerry Jones, knelt before the playing of the national anthem in their game against the Arizona Cardinals.

The decision by players to kneel for the anthem came after President Donald Trump encouraged National Football League owners to fire players who didn't stand.

NFL players taking a knee to raise awareness for social injustice has turned into a controversy that might cause the league to lose money.
