  • Hurricane Jose is seen on the right as Hurricane Irma trounces Florida on Sunday

The eastern Atlantic has been very active this summer with both Irma and Jose originating in this area of the ocean.

The NHC issued an advisory at 11 a.m. Thursday for Tropical Storm Jose.

In any case, forecasters said the shear environment will keep the hurricane relatively weak, with maximum expected winds of 80 miles per hour throughout the next few days. That's about 505 miles (810 Km) east-northeast of the southeastern Bahamas and 435 miles (700 km) south of Bermuda.

The agency said that Jose is "expected to restrengthen by the weekend".

NASA's Terra satellite is one of many satellites keeping a close eye on Hurricane Jose and saw the storm between the Bahamas and Bermuda.

The so-called cone of uncertainty for Tropical Storm Jose now includes North Carolina's Outer Banks after the National Hurricane Center shifted its forecast west Thursday.

It's Jose's potential track that is getting all the attention, however.

The European and American forecast models move the storm near the the Mid-Atlantic states early next week.

Over the weekend it is expected to harmlessly turn north and end up somewhere between Bermuda and The Outer Banks by Sunday.

Another path would take Jose farther to the west, bringing clouds, rain and gusty winds to part of the mid-Atlantic and New England coasts and eventually Atlantic Canada.

Hurricane Jose could whip up potentially unsafe surf conditions and exacerbate beach erosion from Hurricane Irma. These are common in the Atlantic in the middle of hurricane season.
