Stacy Lewis donated her £150,000 winnings to the flood victims in Houston after holding off the challenge of Chun In-gee to claim victory at the Cambia Portland Classic.

Finishing second in tournaments, "sometimes it's your fault, sometimes it's not", she said.

"I'm excited to get that monkey off my back and just to know that I can do it, hit the shots and putts when I need to", Lewis said. She also broke through in Portland after finishing second twice - two strokes behind Suzann Pettersen in 2013 and four shots behind Brooke Henderson a year ago.

"It was probably one of the easiest rounds of the year, to be honest", Lewis said. She hit it to the back of the green and couldn't get the ball to stop.

"I knew I could win, but it's always hard". "Hopefully, I can go out and make the next few days special, too".

She was staring at the opportunity to win three straight when she teed off on her first hole at the Columbia Edgewater Country Club, but, after leading going into Round 3, she had slipped all the way outside the top 10 after only three holes - and two bogeys.

In a statement posted to Twitter, the 32-year-old said: "It has been so hard being away from home and my family the last week".

Earlier this month, Torrence competed in the 800 and 1,500 for Peru at the world championships in London. The Olympic runner holds an American record in the 1,000-meter run and a world record in the 3,200 relay.

Chun, world No. 6, started the day four strokes behind Lewis in third place at 13-under but cut the deficit to a single stroke after draining a long birdie putt at the 16th.

After playing with hometown hero Brooke Henderson a week ago on her turf at the CP Women's Open, Brittany Altomare notched her best LPGA Tour result ever, after a 3-under-par 69 Sunday in Portland moved her into a tie for third. I was hitting a lot of good shots, a lot of good putts, and they just weren't going in.

Lewis fired a bogey-free round yesterday, with eight birdies and no bogeys.

"I feel like I have a solid game plan", she said. It's the final tune-up before the Tour heads to France for the final major of the 2017 season, the Evian Championship, September 14-17.

A South Korean player had won each of the past five LPGA tournaments, dating back to Park Sung-hyun's victory at the U.S. Women's Open on July 16.

I've admired the way Lewis has persevered through the 83 starts since that Arkansas win.

In 2015 Stacy Lewis had six runner-up finishes.
