Now, when Chrome detects that user settings have been changed without your consent, it will offer to restore the modified settings. You will need to click on the details button find out exactly what's being considered harmful and what will be removed by the tool. To counter that, the Chrome Cleanup feature alerts users when it detects unwanted software and offers a quick way to remove the software and return Chrome to its default settings.

Google also made a decision to completely redesign Chrome Cleanup to make it both simpler and more powerful.

Google on Monday announced that its Chrome browser for Windows was being upgraded, integrating its Chrome Cleanup tool to remove harmful software.

Google estimates the new security features will help "tens of millions" of Chrome users clear up security problems in the next few days.

The release of Chrome OS version 61 may have been grossly delayed (no doubt due in part to the Pixelbook launch) but that has slowed neither the development nor the launch of the next update to Chrome for desktop.

However, from now on worries as Google has taken up your side with this latest update of chrome to fighting back such nasty threats and has introduced a clean and safer web experience for its Chrome users.

The new features didn't excite some users, though. During software downloads, it tags along with some unnecessary stuff or so-called software.

Google says that it worked alongside the IT security company ESET to combine their detection engine with Chrome's sandbox technology. It now forms part of Cleanup and acts as a constant monitor in the background.

The updated engine is rolling out to users starting today. ESET is best known for offering a range of antivirus and security suite solutions for home and business users.

Chrome already has tools to help people avoid unwanted software. A simple dialogue will pop-up noting what has changed, like the default search engine being switched out, and the ability to disable the offending extension by tapping "Restore".
