  • Rafael Nadal Storms Into China Open Quarter-Final

Rafael Nadal got some fibre from a tennis ball lodged in his eye but that did not stop the world number one setting up a China Open semi-final today with "great guy" Grigor Dimitrov.

The 31-year-old, who won his third US Open title last month, maintained his momentum in the second set to seal the victory.

He also finished runner-up to Novak Djokovic in the 2013 and 2015 finals.

Nadal leads Dimitrov 8-1 in their head-to-head matches. I'm happy for him that he's having a good year. Federer can gain some ground if he wins next week's Shanghai Rolex Masters, where 1,000 ranking points are given to the victor.

Nadal defeated Khachanov for the second time this year as he saved the six break points he faced.

Ultimately, Halep broke the 20-year-old seven times as she dropped just three games.

Google working on smart screen assistant device to compete with Echo Show
Smart home camera support on Fire TV now works on a range of devices from companies including Arlo, Ring, Nest, and August. The feature will make an Amazon Echo a lot less passive device, and we wonder if this will make it more or less popular.

For a spot in the semifinal, Nadal will battle sixth seed #John Isner, who defeated Leonardo Mayer, 6-0, 6-3, in under an hour after hitting eight aces and converting all four of his break points. Berdych is still looking for his first title in 2017.

They even went fishing together, but Nadal said they will have their game faces on for today: "At the end of the day we are competitors".

Nadal will play Grigor Dimitrov in the semis after the Bulgarian beat Roberto Bautista Agut earlier in the day. He's playing unbelievably well. "I played very well, changing good directions. He played huge. So let's see what's going on tomorrow".

And, having watched that encounter, Nadal is expecting a hard time against the 32-year-old world number 17.

Simona Halep is on the cusp of overhauling Garbine Muguruza as world number one after the Romanian raced into the semi-finals of the women's draw.

The American is chasing his third ATP World Tour crown of the season this week, following victories in Newport and Atlanta.
