  • Deputies respond to reported shooting near elementary school in Rancho Tehama

A gunman killed four people and wounded a number of others at random at multiple locations in rural Northern California, including an elementary school, before police shot him dead, authorities said.

Tehama County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston told a TV station that the authorities are investigating at least five crime scenes at a school around 130 miles away from Sacramento.

About 100 law enforcement officials responded to "multiple scenes, I can think of at least five scenes", after the shooting, he said.

Police offered no immediate word on the assailant's motive, but a sheriff's official said the shooter's neighbors had reported a domestic violence incident.

"I don't know how many victims; I know of at least three deaths", Johnston said.

Kushner hands over key documents to Mueller in Russian Federation probe
CNN's report came one day after Vanity Fair reported that Trump was becoming frustrated with Kushner. White House sources, however, have indicated that Mr Kushner is not a target of the investigation.

There were a total of 10 people injured, and Tehama County Superintendent of Schools Rich DuVarney said no students or staff at the school were among the fatalities. "That evolved to multiple victims and multiple shots at the school, at the elementary school".

Rancho Tehama Elementary is a small school, serving students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. The shooter himself has been killed by police and several victims are now being treated at a local hospital. He says he and his roommate told authorities that their neighbor was acting "crazy" and threatening them.

"The insane thing is that the neighbor has been shooting a lot of bullets lately, hundreds of rounds, large magazines", Flint said.

St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in the community of Red Bluff received two patients, including one who was stabilized and transferred to another facility, Amanda Harter, a spokeswoman for the facility, said in an email.

Separately, three people were being treated at a hospital in Redding, about 80km north of the shootings.
