"No causalities, evidence of any shots fired or any suspects were located by police", the statement said.

London's police force said they had received reports that shots had been fired on Oxford Street and in the nearby underground station, which they were responding to as if it might be terrorist-related.

Stuart Crichton, London Ambulance Service assistant director of operations, said: "We checked over and treated several patients who sustained injuries while leaving the Oxford Circus area".

Two men have been interviewed by police in connection with the apparent "altercation" that sparked panic in central London on Black Friday, one of the busiest shopping days of the year.

Shoppers were told to leave their shopping and flee the store.

People were seen running from the scene, the BBC reported.
