  • President Trump Blasts Father of Recently Released UCLA Player for Being Unappreciative of His Help in Gaining Son’s Release

The president accused LaVar Ball, the father of one of the players, of being "unaccepting" of Trump's personal intervention in the matter.

"I would also like to thank President Trump and the United States government for the help that they provided as well", Ball's son said in response.

"What was he over there for?" Don't tell me nothing. "Everybody wants to make it seem like he helped me out", he continued.

Ball's son LiAngelo and two of his teammates, Jalen Hill and Cody Riley, were arrested November 8 after stealing designer sunglasses in Shanghai, according to the New York Times. On Tuesday, the players returned home to the USA on Tuesday. The players missed the team's game with Georgia Tech in Shanghai and were forced to remain behind in China to deal with the fallout of the charges even after the rest of the team returned to Los Angeles.

President Trump, later took credit for their release, saying that he personally intervened with the Chinese president. All three players offered thanks to Trump during Wednesday's news conference, after Trump tweeted that the players should thank him for stepping in and helping gain their release.

The back-and-forth between Trump and LaVar Ball stems from a situation in Hangzhou, China, earlier this month. 'I'm happy with how things were handled.

Lest you think the administration had better things to do, Dan Scavino, White House Director of Social Media, also tweeted, a similar message.

Fredricka Whitfield spoke with Stelter this afternoon on how "the way this President prioritizes is very confusing to a lot of people".

All three players have been suspended from the UCLA basketball team indefinitely, and articles of impeachment have been filed on Donald Trump. "Like I told him, 'They try to make a big deal out of nothing sometimes.' I'm from LA".
