Janelle Monáe To Anyone Who Dares Try To Silence Women: 'Time's Up'

29 January, 2018, 09:04 | Author: Evan Mason

Where many Grammy songs performed months after their initial release seem exhausted, Kesha's voice was packed with emotion, as if it were the first time she sang "Praying".

Janelle Monae just pulled an Oprah. While it's hard to know whether the Grammys are being earnest or just co-opting a movement for their own purposes, what's clear is that Kesha gave a powerful, defiant performance, one that feels like a deserved moment for the singer. A powerhouse group of female artists including Cyndi Lauper, Camila Cabello, Bebe Rexha, Andra Day, and Julia Michaels also joined Kesha on stage.

Dr. Luke has repeatedly denied Kesha's allegations. "Women and men, as a united music industry committed to creating more safe work environments, equal pay and access for all women".

And to those who would dare try to silence us, we offer you two words: Time's up.

One of the league's most dynamic floor leaders, he's leading the Trail Blazers in points (25.2) and assists (6.6). Aldridge has been the anchor in San Antonio with Kawhi Leonard's season plagued by injuries.

Her face intense and her voice building in ferocity, Kesha brought the crowd at Madison Square Garden to its feet and occasionally to tears at a time of growing public consciousness about sexual harassment and misconduct.

The singer and actress said that it's not just in Hollywood or in Washington - it's everywhere, including the music industry. The track appears on her album Rainbow, which was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album this year.

"Praying" is the lead single from "Rainbow", Kesha's first album in five years following her bitter legal fight over her record contract. "And time's up for the abuse of power", she said. But not even in the wildest of dreams did any of us expect the extraordinary appearance that she delivered.

It was perhaps the most powerful Grammys moment we've seen in a while and was a tribute to a movement that isn't about individuals but is about changing a culture.
