20th Century Fox has recently unveiled a trailer for a movie titled Red Sparrow, based on a book of the same name by Jason Matthews.

The film is based on a 2013 novel of the same name by Jason Matthews, and revolves around a Russian woman (Lawrence) who is forced into the life of a "Sparrow", which essentially appears to be a secret agent/sleeper agent designed for exactly the kinds of missions you'd expect to involve a lovely young woman: Seducing generals, attending swanky soirees, occasional assassinations.

Red Sparrow is on fleek! "To see her transform in a fearless way and truly push herself into a new territory has been one of the most exciting things about this project". And yet it's actually the premise for the (oh-so-similarly titled) Red Sparrow, an upcoming "original" thriller headlined by Jennifer Lawrence and helmed by The Hunger Games: Catching Fire director Francis Lawrence. A prima ballerina whose ferocity has pushed her body and mind to the absolute limit. She is put into a no-win scenario where she must either accept training to become a Sparrow, or she will die. The first trailer for Red Sparrow dropped back in September. After enduring the perverse and sadistic training process, she emerges as the most risky Sparrow the program has ever produced. Meeting an American CIA agent (played by Joel Edgerton), she gets that chance.

Directed by Francis Lawrence, who previously worked with the Oscar-winning actress on the Hunger Games films, the movie also features an eclectic cast: Jeremy Irons, Charlotte Rampling, Mary-Louise Parker and Matthias Schoenaerts. Her response: "I'll find a way".

"One of the things that drew me into the story, is that it really is a personal story for a character, which I think is pretty rare in terms of the spy genre".
