A balloon carrying foreign tourists on a sightseeing trip south of Egypt's city of Luxor crashed on Friday morning, leading to the death of one tourist and injuring seven others, according to the state-run newspaper Al-Ahram.

All of those involved in the accident are believed to be foreign tourists.

The health ministry said a woman was killed and 12 people injured but gave no further details. The injured included tourists from Spain, South Africa and Argentina.

The injured are being treated at Luxor International Hospital.

Surprise: Netflix Will Release Two Dave Chappelle Stand-Up Specials on New Years
Netflix announced in November that it had signed a blockbuster deal with Chappelle to headline three stand-up specials. You'll either catch a classic or be surprised by a deep cut you haven't thought about in forever, like " Wrap It Up ".

The crash was caused by strong winds that led the driver to lose control over the balloon as he was landing, according to the governor's statement.

The mishap reportedly occurred at a time when the balloon was flying over the ancient Egyptian city.

Luxor has witnessed hot air balloon accidents in past years.

In 2013, a hot air balloon caught fire in mid-flight over Luxor, killing 19 tourists. Such flights usually start before sunrise and pass over green fields leading to the Valley of the Kings - the burial site of famous boy king Tutankhamun and other pharaohs.
