Alexanda Kotey and El Shafee Elsheikh, the final two members of the British terror cell at large, have been captured by US-backed Kurdish troops, raising the possibility that they can provide information on hostages such as journalist John Cantlie.

All members of ISIS' the "Beatles" group lived in West London and was responsible of the hostages from western nations.

US officials did not provide any other details of the capture, but said the USA government works closely with its coalition partners on the disposition of detainees held by the SDF.

A separate USA official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the Syrian Democratic Forces had captured the two in eastern Syria in early January. The men were handed over to USA special operations troops in Syria, who used fingerprints and other biometric data to identify them.

Ringleader Emwazi was killed in a drone strike in 2015 and Davis is in jail in Turkey after being convicted past year on terrorism charges.

The Foreign Office said it did not comment on individual cases or ongoing investigations.
